It is my pleasure to announce the launch of the Second Call for short-term Academic Staff of the Pan African University (PAU) Institute of Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change), ‘PAUWES’ and invite committed academics (and professionals) to apply and join the founding team of PAUWES. The Pan African University (PAU) is a network university initiated by the African Union. PAU aims at revitalising African higher education, improving its quality and boosting applied research and doctoral training.
The Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change) is hosted at the campus of the University of Tlemcen, Algeria. PAUWES is one of the five thematic PAU hubs (Institute of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) at the University of Yaoundée II in Cameroon, the Institute of Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya, and the Institute of Life and Earth Sciences (PAULESI) at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria). The hub in Southern Africa will start later.
In partnership with the Algerian and German government, the PAUWES Institute offers graduate students access to leading academic teaching, research and hands-on training in areas relevant and vital to the future of African development – water, energy and climate change. Our goal is to usher in a new generation of leaders, well-equipped to harness the wealth of African human and natural resources, imbued with a common vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated Africa.
To begin with, the PAUWES offers for the Academic year 2014/2015 an engineering track programme :
· Master of Science in Water
· Master of Science in Energy
It is a full time two-year Master’s programme. The language of instruction is English.
In the next academic year 2015/2016 also a policy track will be offered. At a later point, doctoral programmes will be provided.
