The Senior Finance Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Senior Finance Manager will have a Financial Manager, a management accountant, one financial controller and a procurement/creditor clerk as direct reports. The company operates on a matrix system and as such the reporting lines includes interaction with the Project Finance and Development teams. The position is ideally suited for a hard-working and dynamic Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 7 - 10 years’ experience in South Africa and with a hands-on management style and aspirations to develop and progress internally as part of the team. A strong Group financial reporting track record and technical ability is a must. Listed entity reporting exposure will be beneficial.
The Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for the execution and efficient running of the Group’s financial reporting and administrative functions. The environment is dynamic and this position will gain exposure in wide variety of commercial aspects of the business and projects. Immediate focus of this position will be to stabilize the financial reporting, management accounting and implementation/reporting of the Pronto Accounting ERP system.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Ensuring timely preparation and review of monthly management accounts, files and reporting.
2) Ensuring the production of functional and useful reports for management in order to make sound and timeous business decisions.
3) Drive the evaluation and continuous improvement of finance and business processes.
4) Monthly reporting and discussion of Departmental and Project Development Spend.
5) Preparation of monthly and annual Consolidated Group Results.
6) Assistance with research and resolution of relevant technical accounting issues which arise from time to time.
7) Assistance with some Group Payroll, salary structuring and related functions.
8) Maintenance and day to day management of the Accounting ERP system. This includes development of management reports out of Pronto and Cognos as well as the development of a consolidation process that streamlines this function.
9) Responsible for Insurance for the Group (including Property Insurance, Employment Practices Insurance, Public Liability, etc.).
10) Management of Group Treasury function and interaction with the banks. This includes cash forecasting, investment decisions, foreign exchange management etc.
11) Responsible for the Budgeting and Forecasting function for the Group. This includes all Development Projects, G&A Costs, Construction and Operational Projects.
12) Responsible for interaction and resolution of all indirect and direct tax issues with SARS (VAT/PAYE/Thin Cap etc.).
13) Running of monthly current/deferred tax models and preparing/providing oversight in terms of provisional and annual tax return submissions.
14) Quarterly and annual tax reporting for US Tax purposes.
15) Interaction with SA Reserve Bank in terms of facilities in terms of deals, foreign loans etc.
16) Providing technical accounting opinions and input in terms of deals which we are structuring and understanding impact on results in terms of latest accounting standards.
17) Responsible for year-end audit process.
18) Ensure procurement process is functioning as determined by company policy.
The above will be performed across all trading entities within the Group, which currently consist of 15 active entities (development business, operations & maintenance business, asset management & administration business, operating projects.
