
The Pan African University (PAU) Institute of Water and Energy Sciences (including Climate Change) (PAUWES) is located on the campus of the University of Tlemcen, Algeria. In partnership with the Algerian and German government, the PAUWES Institute offers graduate students access to leading academic teaching, research and hands-on training in areas vital to the future of African development – water, energy and the challenge of climate change.
PAUWES is one of the five hubs of the Pan African University established under the African Union aimed at revitalizing African higher education and at boosting research and postgraduate training. In order to strengthen its teaching and research capacities PAU is looking to fill 84 academic positions for its institutes.
PAUWES offers four degree programmes: two Masters of Science in Water Engineering and Policy and two Master of Science in Energy Engineering and Policy (and later PhD programmes in both). The four of them are full time two-year master’s programmes with English as the language of instruction. The first semester at PAUWES began in September 2014 with 26 students from 17 different nationalities across Africa. During this current academic year (2015- 2016), PAUWES is accepting 48 students.

Position 1: Professor in Integrated Water Resource Management
Position 2: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Water Policy
Position 3: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Water Economics
Position 4: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Water for Agriculture
Position 5: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Water Engineering
Position 6: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Water Quality and Sanitation
The salary to each of these positions is an annual lump-sum as per the below:
Professor: US$ 81,560
Associate Professor: US$73,344
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years. Thereafter, the
contract may be renewed for another two (2) years.
