
The deal, the manufacturer’s second in the country, is for the delivery and installation of 46 SWT-2.3-108 turbines with 115-metre towers. It also includes a five-year-service agreement.
Installation at the site is slated for the second half of this year with operations expected to begin during the first half of 2014.
Siemens wind power division chief executive Felix Ferlemann said: “We are proud to contribute to the development of wind power in South Africa with our technology, and especially proud that ESKOM has chosen to rely on us for its first large project.”
