The project is being co-developed by Mulilo Renewable Energy South Africa and Independent Power Producer, Sonnedix.
Juwi will also provide operations and maintenance services for the project.
The solar park is being constructed in Prieska, Northern Cape as part of South Africa’s renewable energy independent power producer programme (REIPPPP). The 86MW project was one of six preferred bids in the recently announced third round.
The project represents an investment of more than ZAR1.2 billion (US$118 million), with financial close expected by July 2014 and construction to start shortly after. Commercial operation is expected mid 2015 and the project will become Juwi’s fifth in South Africa.
