Earlier this year, Nersa called for proposals on the generation of renewable energy in a fourth phase of bidding under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers programme(REIPPP). Just under 80 applications were received, with a combined renewable output of 5 804MW.
After the bidding phase was completed, Nersa selected and released a list of 26 preferred bidders for various renewable projects across the country to generate a total of 2 205 MW.
The regulator now needs to get comment from the public on its preferred bidders and the issuing of energy power plant licences, and will be facilitating feedback sessions across the country.
The first such event will start in the Northern Cape on 8 September, and will then make its way to the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape, culminating in Mpumalanga and the North West province on 11th September.
If you are not able to make it any of the sessions, you will still be able to make your voice heard by submitting comment to Nersa’s office in Gauteng.
