Africa’s biggest power sector event, POWER-GEN Africa, co-located with DistribuTECH Africa in Cape Town next month, is stepping up its capacity to bring about change in Africa’s power sector, with the launch of its POWER-GEN CONNECT business matchmaking platform and the news that leading Russian nuclear experts will feature on the agenda.
With up to 3,000 delegates attending the event from across Africa and abroad, POWER-GEN Africa and DistribuTECH Africa traditionally provide optimal business networking opportunities. This year, however, event organisers PennWell have launched a platform set to significantly expand the event’s business generation potential.
Delegates attending the conferences, as well as visitors just attending the free expo, can now make use of the POWER-GEN CONNECT free business matchmaking tool to arrange meetings with key stakeholders.
Nigel Blackaby, POWER-GEN Africa Event Director & Conference Director for PennWell’s International Power Group, says the free platform maximizes the value of this event, which brings together stakeholders from across the continent. “The POWER-GEN CONNECT business matchmaking (PGCBM) platform allows, visitors and exhibitors to view profiles, see recommended connections, direct message to other stakeholders and arrange meetings with potential business partners. At an event as large and broad-ranging as POWER-GEN Africa and DistribuTECH Africa, this new tool helps visitors to connect quickly and easily, to fast track business talks,” Blackaby says. The platform is now live, athttps://connect.pennwell.com/connect/group/power-gen
Blackaby notes that CONNECT is just one of a number of innovations and highlights at this year’s event. “We are also proud to announce that a number of top Russian energy and nuclear power experts will participate in a workshop entitled ‘Russian technologies for Thermal Power Engineering in Africa’ during the event. This is particularly topical at a time when most stakeholders are assessing different energy sources to find a solution to the continent’s power challenges.”
The workshop will include insightful presentations on modern equipment solutions and new developments that pertain to the African energy sector and will include experts such as Nikolay Drozdov, Director of the International Business Department at ROSATOM State Corporation; Igor Kotov, CEO of ZIO Podolsk; and Knox Msebenzi, Executive Director of the Power Institute for East and Southern Africa (PIESA).
Under the theme ‘Emerging Opportunities in the World’s Fastest Growing Continent’, POWER-GEN Africa and DistribuTECH Africa 2015 will be staged from 15 – 17 July at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town. The co-located events bring together thousands of stakeholders to address power generation, energy and distribution trends and challenges; and to assess products, technologies and solutions from around the world.
Over 110 event sponsors and partners will participate, including host utility Eskom, engineering and services group Bilfinger, international engineering and project management firm Amec Foster Wheeler, power and automation firm ABB, Garanti Koza Energy, FATA EPC, Ansalso Energia, Siemens AG, Edison Power Group and Doosan.
Kenya Airways, the Official Airline Partner of POWER-GEN Africa and DistribuTECH Africa, is offering exclusive discounts of up to 10% off on return business class flights and 20% off return economy class flights to delegates travelling to Cape Town between 7-23 July 2015.
